Owner Mikhail Prokhorov knows the key to the New Jersey Nets turning their franchise around is getting a long-term commitment from Deron Williams.

With a few more fourth quarters like he saw Friday in London, perhaps Williams will be more inclined to stick around.

An impressive comeback helped the Nets pick up their first win since Williams' arrival, a performance they'll look to replicate against the Toronto Raptors in Saturday's tail end of the NBA's first regular-season foray in Europe.

Prokhorov couldn't lure Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey, but shocked the league by landing Williams in from Utah on Feb. 23.

But while Anthony immediately signed a three-year, $65 million to stay in New York after being dealt from Denver, the Russian billionaire hasn't yet been able to secure a similar commitment from Williams.

Prokhorov said the two will sit down while in London to discuss Williams staying with the Nets (18-43) for the long haul, and Friday was the best New Jersey has looked since the trade. Trailing by three going into the fourth quarter, the Nets outscored Toronto 38-22 and came away with a 116-103 win to end their six-game losing streak.

"We had a lot of energy today," said Williams, who had 16 points and 11 assists. "We were all a little worried about how the trip would affect us, fatigue would set in. But we had a lot of energy. We had definitely some bright spots, some guys played great for us tonight."

New Jersey shot 55.6 percent - its best since a 59.7-percent effort Nov. 15 - as it got 25 points from Brook Lopez and 18 points and 17 rebounds from former Raptor Kris Humphries.

"Our chemistry grows every game by the boatload," said Lopez, who's averaged 21.3 points in his last four games against the Raptors.

One thing the Nets are definitely doing more is sharing the ball. New Jersey averaged 19.7 assists prior to the All-Star break - 28th in the league - but it's averaged an Eastern Conference-best 26.8 since Williams' arrival.

Precise passing from their opponents has spelled trouble for the Raptors. Toronto is 11-12 when it allows 19 assists or fewer and 6-33 if the opposition records 20 or more.

While the Raptors (17-45) certainly need to defend better Saturday, they had some solid offensive performances Friday. DeMar DeRozan had a game-high 30 points, Andrea Bargnani had 23 and Ed Davis hit all six of his shots to finish with 12 points and eight boards off the bench.

Bargnani has averaged 25.5 points since Feb. 4, but the 7-footer has only pulled down five rebounds per game in that span.

"Andrea's been very good over the last month, and he's been a guy that's carried us," coach Jay Triano said. "He needs to be a better rebounder and better at the defensive end, but we think he's making progress (even if) tonight wasn't a good example."

Both teams were impressed with Friday's announced sellout crowd of 18,689, which seemed to be split between the teams.

"I loved the crowd," Bargnani said. "I really felt the excitement. I was nervous in the first half. I think it's going to be better (Saturday)."

Williams agreed.

"These games are great for global basketball, great for the NBA," he said. "... When both teams did something good out there, they liked it. And I hope this is just the start of many, many more games."

Nets hold off Raptors 137-136 in triple OT

LONDON (AP) Travis Outlaw and the New Jersey Nets were up to the challenge of providing excitement for the NBA's European fans.

The Toronto Raptors more than did their part, too.

Outlaw scored the final eight points for New Jersey in a 137-136 triple overtime win Saturday night that gave the Nets a sweep of their two games in London.

The game featured four missed buzzer-beaters and provided exactly the kind of thrilling finish league officials were looking for when they decided to bring regular-season games to Europe for the first time.

Outlaw made two free throws with 12.6 seconds remaining to put the Nets ahead for good and Andrea Bargnani missed a jumper at the buzzer as New Jersey swept the doubleheader at London's O2 Arena.

"Hats off to the NBA ... because I think it's a huge success," Nets coach Avery Johnson said of the European experiment. "This is one of the best wins I've been a part of."

Brook Lopez had 34 points and 14 rebounds for the Nets but fouled out in the second overtime.

Deron Williams added 21 points and 18 assists for his fifth straight double-double since joining the Nets from Utah last week.

Sasha Vujacic had 25 points - including six 3-pointers - and Kris Humphries added 20 points and 17 rebounds for New Jersey. Outlaw finished with 14 points.

DeMar DeRozan finished with 30 points for Toronto (17-46) for the second straight night.

Bargnani led all scorers with 35 points, but also missed a potential winner with 2 seconds left in the first OT.

"We had more than one opportunity to win the game," Bargnani said. "It's been an unbelievable game. Unfortunately we lost."

New Jersey won the first game at the O2 Arena in London 116-103 on Friday.

Williams, who missed a shot to win it at the end of regulation, made a jumper with 9.8 seconds left of the second overtime to tie it at 126, and DeRozan's shot at the other end then clanked off the rim with 2 seconds left. Bargnani grabbed the rebound but couldn't get a shot off before the buzzer.

Vujacic then made 3 free throws to start the third OT, before Outlaw took over the game at both ends.

After making two more free throws, Outlaw blocked Bargnani on the next possession and held on for a jump ball against Amir Johnson. The ball went to Vujacic who missed an easy layup, but Jordan Farmar ended up with the rebound and found Outlaw for a long jumper.

On New Jersey's next possession, Outlaw grabbed his own rebound for a putback to make it 135-128.

"He was instrumental in our win today," Williams said. "We thought we had a mismatch with him on the offensive end. He stepped up and made some big shots but also made some key defensive plays on the other end."

But Toronto responded with eight straight points, capped by Leandro Barbosa's 3-pointer with 21 seconds left, only for Johnson to foul Outlaw while shooting a jumper on the next possession.

The forward made both shots, and Bargnani's long jumper rimmed out at the buzzer.

"Take your hat off to Toronto, they deserved to win just as much as we did," Johnson said. "Unfortunately, these games don't finish in a tie."

Perhaps some British fans thought it did. A few hundred left the arena between the end of regulation and the third overtime period - although it was more likely to make sure of making the last underground train home.

The Nets were up 65-62 after a first half that featured a crowd-pleasing run-and-gun style of play but little defense from either team. The Nets shot 56.5 percent from the field in first two quarters - compared to 55.6 percent from the free-throw line, where it made 5 of 9.

Williams finished the half one assist shy of a double-double.

Notes: DeRozan has made his last 34 free-throw attempts after going 6 for 6 on Saturday ... Sports celebrities in the crowd included Arsenal players Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri along with Chelsea players Branislav Ivanovic and Petr Cech.

Raptors-Nets notebook

THE FACTS: Travis Outlaw rescued the Nets with the final eight points in the third overtime as the Nets swept the Raptors in a historic weekend set in London with the highest scoring game of the season, so far. Outlaw knocked down two free throws for the winning margin with 12.6 seconds to play. Raptors center Andrea Bargnani missed a potential game-winning jumper at the buzzer that would have salvaged the European weekend for the Raptors.

Brook Lopez starred for the Nets, finishing with 34 points, 14 rebounds and a career-high eight blocks before fouling out in the second overtime. Deron Williams turned in his fifth straight double-double with 21 points and 18 assists. Kris Humphries added 20 points and 17 rebounds for New Jersey. Outlaw finished with 14 points.

Bargnani led all scorers with 35 points and DeMar DeRozan scored 30 points for the second straight night.

QUOTABLE: "Deron Williams' spirit has infiltrated our team. And it's a positive spirit."
-- Nets coach Avery Johnson on the positive impact Deron Williams has had on the team since joining them after a trade deadline deal Feb. 23.

THE STAT: 25. Sasha Vujacic had 25 points, including six 3-pointers, to tie his season high in points. Even better for the Nets was the way he attacked on the defensive end. Vujacic boasted recently that he could score 30 points a night if he wanted to. His words didn't look foolish Saturday night.

TURNING POINT: Outlaw woke up from a season-long slumber to play hero for the Nets, who lost another starter -- Damion James -- to a concussion in the first half. Anthony Morrow suffered the same fate in the first half of Friday's game. Outlaw got his chance to see extensive minutes with James sidelined and made the most of his opportunity. Johnson joked that his work in the third overtime was due mostly to his legs being fresher than anyone else's.

QUOTABLE II: "Who knows, we might have had a call coming if he drove to the basket. But Andrea played a lot of minutes, too. That's 51 minutes. He was probably a little bit tired. He might not have had a step on him."
-- Raptors coach Jay Triano on Andread Bargnani's decision, twice, to forego a drive to the basket for a step-back jumper that fell short. He missed a potential game-winner with two seconds to play in the first overtime on the exact same sort of shot he took at the end of the game.

HOT: You can take your pick here between DeRozan, Lopez, Humphries, Vujacic and even Bargnani. But Williams was the man that stood about above all others over the weekend. It helps when you become just the third player player in league history with 10-plus assists in five consecutive games with a new team. Mark Jackson did it five times with Toronto (2000) and Norm Nixon did it seven times with Los Angeles Clippers (1983).

NOT: Bargnani's inability to take advantage of game-winning opportunities in two different overtime periods stings. Even on a night when he rebounds well, he also grabbed 12 rebounds, the shine is taken off of that accomplishment when you realize it is just his second double-double of the season. Bargnani scores plenty of points, but on a bad team and without doing much else most nights.

GOOD MOVE: Johnson is proving to be the master at finding just the right players to fill voids during games. Friday night it was Sundiatta Gaines for Morrow. Saturday night it was Outlaw for James. And don't forget his use of Jordan Farmar (12 points, 3-for-5 shooting from beyond the 3-point line Saturday) as a change of pace option for Williams.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Humphries played video game basketball for the second straight night against the Raptors. He had 18 points and 17 rebounds Friday night and then outdid himself Saturday night with 20 and 17. If that doesn't boost his fantasy stock, nothing will.

ROOKIE WATCH: James was the only rookie from either team to see action, and his night ended after just 22 minutes and his mild concussion. He got a strong endorsement from Johnson, though, after the game. And he should be a fixture in the Nets' starting lineup for the foreseeable future.

NOTABLE: Lopez was two blocks shy of becoming the third Net to record a points/rebounds/blocks triple-double. He would have joined an elite group that includes George Johnson (who did it once) and Shawn Bradley (who did it five times) ... Prior to Saturday night the Nets were 2-4 in overtime games this season and the Raptors 0-1 ... Saturday's game was the most combined points (273) the league has seen since Nov. 28, 2010 when Nuggets and Suns piled up 271 in the Nuggets' 138-133 win.
