Following the devastating earthquake that hit the Sichuan Province area in May 2008, the NBA worked with the Red Cross to support earthquake relief efforts in China. The NBA family has donated more than $5 million to earthquake rebuilding efforts, including $2 million donation by Houston Rockets center Yao Ming that created a foundation to help rebuild Chinese schools.

The NBA and WNBA have joined the Nothing But Nets (NBN) campaign in the fight against Malaria. This global grassroots campaign saves lives by preventing malaria through the purchase and distribution of bed nets, which have been proven to reduce malaria mortality. Learn more.
